They graduated in architecture in Venice in 1969; since 1957 they have been working together, a source of inspiration for designers the world over. Particularly noteworthy are their designs for: B&B Italia (Coronado), Cadel, Casas, Cassina (Soriana), Dimensione Fuoco, Flos (Papillona, Pierrot), Gavina now Knoll International, Goppion, IB Office, Maxalto, Meritalia (Libertà), Molteni, San Lorenzo, Stildomus, Unifor, Veas. They have received many awards for their work as designers, from the “Compasso d’Oro” of 1969 to the “IF Industrie Forum Design Hannover” of 1992. Numerous works of theirs are to be found in major museums in Europe and the United States.

Their collaboration with Benetton began in 1964, with the design of the firm’s first factory. Since then, Afra and Tobia Scarpa have been responsible for all the industrial architecture of the Group.
